Obesity is a complex, chronic condition influenced by genetic, behavioral, environmental, and social factors, and it significantly increases the risk for conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2023). Complementary and Integrative Medicine (CIM) approaches—such as mindfulness, stress management, nutrition-based therapies, and movement practices—are increasingly explored as supportive strategies alongside conventional obesity treatment. Because obesity involves multiple body systems and long-term behavior change, reputable, evidence-based research is essential to ensure CIM interventions are safe, effective, and appropriately integrated into care. High quality research helps health and wellness professionals distinguish scientifically supported practices from unsupported trends, ultimately improving patient outcomes and public health decision-making.

This project represents the third lecture in my Health and Wellness Promotion course series, focusing on practical tools for holistic health. Together, these courses integrate health behavior theory, program planning, and holistic wellness strategies to support evidence- nformed, client centered health promotion. Emphasis is placed on self-efficacy, sustainable behavior change, and the integration of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness, reflecting best practices in health promotion (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2022).
My approach to health and wellness is centered on balance, consistency, and genuine care. I believe that true well-being stems from nurturing both the body and the mind, and I strive to create an environment that encourages people to feel supported, motivated, and empowered.
